Interesting Facts About Mercury, The Adorable Little Planet

Mercury, Planet, Surface, Solar System, Space

Mercury is the first planet in our solar system, and you probably already know that. Did you also know that it has a lot of ice on its surface and that it has craters like our moon? It is, in fact, the planet with the highest amount of craters in our solar system. We’ve sent two probes to the planet Mercury.

Here are some more fascinating facts about Mercury, the adorable small planet in our solar system.

  • Mercury is the first planet in our solar system and is also the closest planet to the Sun in our solar system.
  • Because it is closer to the sun, its orbit is significantly smaller.
  • Because its orbit is smaller than that of any other planet, it spins around the sun more quickly than any other planet.
  • It is also the tiniest planet in our solar system, and its size continues to shrink on a day-to-day basis.
  • Mercury is the second-hottest planet in our solar system, behind Venus, which is the hottest.
  • Mercury is about one-third the size of the Earth and just slightly larger than the moon. It is the smallest planet in the solar system.
  • Because it is so tiny, it does not have any moons.
  • If you weigh 100 kilogrammes on Earth, you would only weigh 38 kilos on Mercury.
